December 2012 newsletter

Dear Residents,

There were 2 break-ins reportedly happened in the second week of December 2012. Both the houses were not equipped with any alarm system hence when it was broken in, there were no alarm raised and from the outside, no one knew there were intruders in the houses.

We hope the house owners will install some of such anti-theft devices like camera and alarm systems. If at all, it will act as a deterrent and should there be any break-ins, the alarm will help alert the guards on patrol.

Because of these two recent cases, we have added another patrol unit on 24x7 duties until the holiday season is over as many people are expected to leave for long holidays and leaving their houses empty. The guards will also be extra vigilant at the entry/exit points. With the additional patrol unit, this will of course increase our operation cost.

This brings us to the next pertinent point. In order for us to be effective in ensuring that crime is curbed, we need your continued support. Please pay your subscription and on time. Also, just because the guards are around, you should not to take things for granted so please be vigilant at all times. Do keep a look out for your neighbors who are away and notify the police/guards should you see something amiss.

Here is an update of what is ahead in our community:

Futsal Court

The court was finally opened for play from the first week of December 2012. There was much delay in getting the “Certificate of Fitness” or CF from MPSJ. The delay had caused some impatient residents to take the situation into their own hands by breaking the locks etc. Such unruly behavior was uncalled for as everyone was working towards getting the court to be opened as soon as possible.

The soft opening of the court marks a milestone for the developer of the court as they are now proceeding to demolish the old one to be planted with trees/plants on the existing land.

As we have mentioned, to prevent abuse, misunderstanding and vandalism, certain rules and regulation will apply. The rules and regulation are being deliberated amongst the committee members. Once it is firmed up, a notice to the rules will be displayed at the court.

We are targeting to have the official opening on Saturday, 12 January 2013 at 10am. There will be a friendly match and we will be inviting some guest and VIPS from TopSpeed, officials from MPSJ and our ADUN, Subang Jaya. We hope all of you, our residents will join in. There will be refreshment and a friendly game amongst the residents.

Collection

As a reminder, the collection dates are for October 2012 to end of March 2013, a total of RM300 for six months of security services. We do welcome payment for a full year so for your family’s safety including your own and the community at large, we urge you to make the payment as soon as possible if you have not done so.

Please make payment to “Persatuan Penduduk USJ 11/3, Subang Jaya, Selangor” to your respective Street leader and be mindful to get the receipt from them. It will provide a record for both parties should situations arise when a claim from the insurance company against burglary is necessary. For your information, we have taken out a policy that covers break-ins for our members.

When you receive your receipt, please check to make sure all the details like name of issuer, amount, dates, etc are correct to avoid any future misunderstanding. Also, we strongly recommend you to make payment via cheque rather than cash.

If you still want to make cash payments then please do insist for a valid receipt which should be issued to you immediately.  We plan to do a ‘walk-about’ in January 2013 to visit the residents who have yet to pay.

Car and plaque stickers

New car stickers as well as stickers for your house plaque will be issued for the New Year. Please do take note – we will start to issue them when it is ready for distribution.

Adopt a Fire Hydrant program with Bomba – Gotong Royong campaign

The “Adopt a fire hydrant” which was held on Saturday, 13 October 2012 was a success. It was hosted by the team from our local Fire unit located in SS 17. Our ADUN, YB Hannah Yeoh as well as Dr. Loi, our councilor for our area attended the event.

There was brief by the local fire chief. This was followed by the cleaning and painting of the fire hydrants in our area. Random testing on the fire hydrants were carried out to make sure they function properly.

Refreshment was served and several residents came out to join the event. Thank you to all who came and supported the event.
